Mission & Vision

Where God Leads

Our Mission and Vision, inspired by the Bible and the Holy Spirit, guides us to be an effective ministry.

Why we exist as a Church

The Journey’s mission is to show Christ’s love to the church, the community, and the world one person at a time.

How we see ourselves as a Church

A Family in Christ, A Family that Cares.

Our Mission and Vision is based on two key Scriptures

The Great Commandment

“Teacher, which command in the law is the greatest? ”

Jesus said to him, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.  This is the greatest and most important command.  The second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.  All the Law and the Prophets depend on these two commands.” Matthew 22:36-40

The Great Commission

Jesus said, “Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20

The Essentials We Believe

These are our Core Beliefs and Values as a Church.

We believe the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testament to be the verbally inspired word of God, the final authority for faith and life, infallible and God-breathed.

2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Matthew 5:18; John 16:12-13

We believe in the one Triune God, eternally existing in three persons—Father, Son, Holy Spirit-co- eternal in being, co-eternal in nature, co-equal in power and glory, having the same attributes and perfections

Deuteronomy 6:4; 2 Corinthians 13:14

We believe Jesus Christ is exactly who He claimed to be. We believe that we must renounce our old way of life, repent of our sins, and ask God to forgive our sins, to cleanse and make us a new creation. We confess Jesus Christ is the Lord and Master of our lives.

Isaiah 5:6; Matthew 26:64; Mark 14:62; Luke 22:70; John 4:25-26, John 6:29, 8:58, 11:25-27, 14:6-7, 15:5; 1 John 1:9; 2 Corinthians 5:17; Romans 10:9

We recognize that our sin has separated us from God and put us at enmity with Him, the object of his wrath. Because of our sins we deserve eternal torment and separation from God, i.e.: Hell.

Romans 3:10, 3:23

We recognize that there is only one way to God, salvation, the kingdom of heaven and eternal life: Jesus Christ. There is no other way. Redemption and the forgiveness of sins is an unmerited gift of grace from our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, accomplished by his death and shed blood on the cross at Calvary.

John 14:6; Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9

We believe that we are Christians who has been saved from our sins by the grace of Jesus Christ. We have accepted His gift of salvation bought by His death on the cross, the penalty of our sins, and His resurrection, by which we are assured of eternal life.

John 3:16-18; Romans 3:23-26

In obedience to Scripture, we believe that we need to be baptized after we become believers in Jesus Christ as evidence and testimony of our commitment to be a disciple of Jesus Christ, our Savior.

Colossians 2:12; 1 Peter 3:21

We affirm the Holy Bible as the inspired Word of God and as the only basis for our beliefs and practices. As a general statement of our faith, although it is not binding, this church accepts the essential doctrines of the Southern Baptist Faith and Message.
